Dance On Screen ON TOUR

On the day of the finals, during the jury’s reunion, ISTTF is again spotlighting the genre dance film in cooperation with the Dance On Screen FilmFestival Graz. In Austria, dance film is primarily associated with the UNESCO City of Design Graz, where since 2016 Valentina Moar presents her annually event.

The festival offers an intensive program with film screenings, dance film workshops and awards and serves as a networking hub for Austrian and international dancers and filmmakers. In the 2016-2024 editions, the festival screened over 400 international dance films in Graz, and Dance On Screen also sets impulses for dance film in Europe throughout the year: guest film screenings and festival collaborations have so far taken place in Greece, Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Portugal and other Austrian federal states. The next edition, the 10th anniversary of Dance On Screen will be held in November 2025 in Graz.

For the screening in Stuttgart Valentina Moar prepared a selection of dance films which correspond to ISTTF’s focus – solo works.

SOLO DIALOG 2025

call for submissions

We are pleased to announce an open call for submissions.

Solo Dialog 2025

Every year, the Stuttgart International Solo Dance Theater Festival (ISTTF) showcases the latest international developments in the young solo dance theater scene. As part of this international competition, choreographers and dancers from around the globe present a solo piece that offers a fresh, original, imaginative, and distinctive performance with its own style.

In a new development for 2025, the Solo Dialog event will provide a platform for local and international dancers to collaborate on creative movement and dialogue projects alongside the main competition, from March 13 to 16, 2025. The objective is to facilitate international networking between the local dance scene and former festival participants.

The project will be led by Roberta Ferrara, founder and artistic director of Equilibrio Dinamico, freelance teacher and choreographer, and winner of the 22nd ISTTF Choreography Award in 2018. The venue is the TREFFPUNKT Rotebühlplatz in Stuttgart, Germany.

We are seeking two dancers from the Stuttgart dance scene to participate in the „Solo Dialog“ project.

Scope of project

In „Solo Dialog,“ two dancers from the Stuttgart scene will engage in an artistic dialogue with two international former ISTTF prizewinners, developing a joint performance under the guidance of choreographer Roberta Ferrara while maintaining their individual movement languages. Over the course of three rehearsal days (Thursday to Saturday), each dancer will develop a solo piece of approximately two minutes in length. The group will then develop the theme further, extending the piece by a further five minutes.

The project will conclude on the fourth day with two or three performances in cultural institutions in Stuttgart. It is possible that publicly accessible locations such as stairwells and entrance areas will be used. Please be advised that the music will be played via a portable Bluetooth loudspeaker, and that stage lighting is not planned. The final performance will take place as part of the Stuttgart International Solo Dance Theater Festival finale at TREFFPUNKT Rotebühlplatz.

Schedule

The program will take place from Thursday, March 13, to Sunday, March 16, 2025. On the Thursday, Friday and Saturday, it will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., including a 90-minute break. On Sunday, it is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., although this schedule is subject to change. A detailed schedule will be sent out with the confirmation.

Renumeration.

A flat fee of €1,600 per dancer will be paid to those participating in Solo Dialog. Dancers will also receive a daily expenses allowance of €19.20.

Selection process

The Board of Trustees of the Stuttgart International Solo Dance Theater Festival will select the two dancers to participate by mid-December.

The two former ISTTF prizewinners will be selected separately from this call for applications.
